Monday night Kayaking pool sessions started again on at Hamme Pool on January 9, 2012. They are held every Monday night except for January 16 and February 20 until mid May. Get back in your boat and be ready to get on the rivers when they break up this spring. Meet other paddlers, and talk up boating adventures. Practice paddling, rescue, and rolling skills. Join in a pick-up game of kayak polo.
The pool has changed times slightly for Spring 2012. Open Kayak session is from 7:00 to 7:45 pm. Kayak Polo is from 8:00 to 8:45 pm.
Hamme Pool staff has asked us to remind participants that boats must be cleaned and rinsed off before going into the pool. Be sure to clean out all the alders and silt from your last run of the season, and get those vole nests out of your boat before bringing it to the pool . Full body showers, including hair are required before getting in the pool, too. Due to the additional demands on lifeguards, there is no open swim or kids swimming during Open Kayak night. During kayak polo, there is no kayak practice time. Polo players waiting in the deep end to rotate into a game may practice rolling; however, Open Kayak practice ends when Kayak Polo starts. Bring a helmet if you plan to join the kayak polo game (face masks are recommended!). You can call Hamme Pool for more information at 459-1086.

I would like to take some class on kayaking this winter what would i need thank you
I’m not aware of classes offered in Fairbanks. Monday night kayak practice sessions begin in January and go through May at Hamme Pool. You might check with Alaska Kayak Academy in Wasilla for their lesson schedule: http://kayakcenterak.com
Though no formal lessons are scheduled for the Monday night pool sessions, many people have learned their roll there thanks to the many willing attendees who are often willing to take the time to show new boaters how the learning to roll works. Show up with a positive attitude and whatever gear you can corral, a willingness to ask and share, and you won’t be disappointed.
